About Kathy:
Kathy Pichel-McGovern is a third generation Lower Saucon Township resident. She graduated from Saucon Valley High School as did her father and her three children. Kathy is a certified registered nurse practitioner who has been practicing for over 40 years in the medical profession. Additionally, she and her husband have recently converted her parent’s vegetable farm into a successful beef farming operation; Pichel-McGovern Farms, LLC. Her and her husband raise beef and hay on the farm that her grandfather bought in 1955. Kathy became interested in local politics when the Penn East Pipeline threatened to take a 30 foot right of way through the center of her farm for natural gas exportation purposes. Because of this proposed pipeline, Kathy joined the Planning Commission and served for several years.
At the same time, Kathy became more involved in the community and became a Hellertown Area Library board member including treasurer. She enjoyed both of these committees, however, once the pandemic came in 2020, Kathy had to leave her volunteer positions to work in her healthcare profession.
Since the pandemic, Kathy has, again become involved with local politics and joined the Environmental Advisory Committee, currently serving as Secretary. Finally, Kathy is the Vice President of the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society. She has active roles in both committees.
Kathy believes that Lower Saucon Township is a beautiful place to live, raise a family and is very much interested in conserving our current way of life. She also thoroughly believes that Lower Saucon Residents are good, hard working people and should be treated as such. She believes that the Lower Saucon Township Council should be role models and supportive of our community. She believes in being financially conservative while being mindful of the communities’ needs. Finally, she believes that Lower Saucon Township should have positive working relationships with other townships, cities and boroughs and be a good neighbor.
About Curt:
Curt Balch and his wife Stephanie relocated to Lower Saucon Township eight years ago to establish her developmental pediatrics clinic in the valley. They chose Lower Saucon for its balance of rural and suburban neighborhoods, borough amenities, and strong school district. When their daughter Milana was born Curt stepped back from his role as a healthcare administrator to serve as the family homemaker and manage their 200yr old homestead. Following his graduation from Colgate University and 9/11 Curt enlisted in the United States Army to serve as an infantry officer before pursuing a career in banking and finance. He received his MBA from the William E Simon School of Business, focusing on strategic cost analysis and system optimization. While his professional career led him to aid families and businesses seeking to protect and preserve their assets from tax losses and other systemic risks, he served on multiple charitable boards aiding the cancer and special needs communities. Curt is devoted to the principles of frugality, small government, and personal liberty. If elected to council Curt is committed to applying those principles for the greater benefit of the community.
